Over the past few years, since I bought my Apple Watch Series 9, I’ve noticed that everyone seems to have an Apple Watch, Android Watch, or a fitness tracker that resembles an Apple Watch. It turns out that the joke was on me; I never really used it much, except for a few specific things: tracking my steps, managing my music, silencing phone calls, and receiving timely alerts. However, the Apple Watch became quite annoying due to its buzzing and vibrating notifications from phones, the need to use a tiny knob to scroll through apps, its battery drainage issues, and its overall design that made it look like everyone else’s.
I used G-Shock bands to distinguish myself. However, every day, the watch’s value depreciated, became annoying, and I wasn’t utilizing its full potential. My Apple’s most impressive feature reminded me of the Power Rangers wrist communicator from the 90s. On random forced calls to my watch, I could actually talk. Society seems to lack individuality and the desire to be unique.
I miss the steps tracking on the Apple watch. Seems like my iPhone Air counts the steps as well. How accurate, who knows. The only person I want to follow is Jesus, and that’s free. Everything we associate ourselves with has symbolism. We can choose to follow the broad path or the narrow path just to fit in, our time is temporary. Eventually, we all run out of it.
